Golf Tournament in September!

September 18, 2015 is our 13th Annual Golf Tournament.

This year we will be at the Ken McDonald Golf Course in Tempe!  It’s located at 800 E Divot Dr. Tempe AZ 85282

Registration will begin at 6:30 AM with a Tee time of 7:30.  We will have great food; great prizes and great fun as always.   Don’t miss it!   Vendors:  This is a great opportunity to show off your company.  Sponsor a tee for only $100.00.  Place your sign on the tee and be recognized.  We are also looking to our vendors to donate prizes for the raffle during the luncheon and sponsorship for registration.  This has always been a memorable event and this year will be no different.  Chris Cimini is organizing this event.  Contact him at ccimini52@gmail.com for more information.

DRUM ROLL PLEASE

MSA is proud to present the first MSA certification program class: INTRODUCTION TO PUBLIC WORKS.

As we roll out the red carpet, we hope you are as excited as we are.

This class is tailored to entry level employees. It gives them exposure to multiple aspects of our industry. It’s designed to introduce them to:

  • the history of roads
  • funding sources
  • beautification projects
  • soils
  • drainage and storm-water
  • traffic control
  • signs and pavement
  • concrete
  • weeds, landscape and sweeping
  • contracts
  • safety and inspections
  • basics of supervision and management

Each chapter is making an effort to provide the candidates they choose and fund this class to the tune of $75 per student.  If you’re interested, please complete this scholarship application and email to ASKAZMSA@live.com

ANNUAL TRAINING OCTOBER 8, 2014

This year we bring to you experts on the ever changing topics of
 HAZMAT on the STREETS and SWPPP Inspections .
Captain Randy Dunkelbarger is with the Chandler Fire Department.  Randy is well versed in Hazardous Materials response and Emergency Management. He will pass along his knowledge to you on how to recognizing and identifying the hazards associated with hazardous materials in transport that your people may be exposed to on the job, and how to respond to these hazards prior to emergency personnel arriving on scene.  There will be a strong emphasis on the importance of personal safety as they respond to these incidents as well as protecting the public.
Cameron Flower is a Senior Environmental Manager with KITCHELL is a recognized leader in the environmental industry who volunteers his knowledge to assist others. Cameron assists clients with their compliance within the environmental field, specifically with Air Quality and Water Quality regulations. His class will give you an overview of what you can reasonably expect when you show up to conduct an inspection or SWPPP book review.  You will leave with the clues you need to see if the regulated entity is performing the way they know they should be.
 $30 for members/$35 for non-members.  You can pay with credit card at the door or an invoice can be sent at your request. Remember; as well as education and food, our vendors are providing some wonderful raffle prizes!

2014 AZMSA Tom Sheetz Memorial Rodeo

This annual event continues to be the AZMSA Banner Event!  We had close to 300 people attending and everyone got at least 1 D E L I C I O U S steak.  The barbequers extraordinaire are all staff from the Town of Gilbert.  Another job well done guys.

Chapter President; Curtis Yardley of the Town of Gilbert presented the winners with their trophies and prizes as well as an award to Janell Russell; Administrative Assistant who has announced her retirement this year.  She has been an intregal part of the process to pull off an event like the Tom Sheetz Memorial Rodeo.  Happy trails to you Janell.

The prestigious “Superintendent of the Year” Award was presented to James Thornton III from the city of Tempe.  James is on the AZ chapter E-Board and has been diligent in assisting us with the coordination of our Golf Tournament and the Vendor Appreciation date in December.  Congratulations James.

Just as important is our “Vendor of the Year” award that was presented to Brian Barnum with Southwest Slurry.  Brian has been a Vendor Representative on our board for many years and earned his stripes by keeping us on track.  Thanks again Brian and keep up the good work.

The Town of Gilbert ran away with the “Best of the Best” this year.  Jason Cano with Gilbert took the coveted Master Equipment Operator trophy this year.  2nd Place went to Jarod Lane from Pinal County and 3rd Place to Joseph Hendrickson of Avondale. We have a whole bunch of winners in AZMSA and here is the list for this year:
